Acevedo's in Lamesa, TX, is a straightforward, no-frills Mexican eatery that leans heavily into classic Texas-Mexican comfort food. This spot feels like a local staple where the food carries the kind of authenticity you’d expect from a family-run kitchen — especially those long-time homemade flour tortillas that remind many of home-cooked memories.

If you're rolling through town and hunger strikes in the morning, Acevedo's is a solid play for breakfast. The breakfast burritos, especially the carne guisada variety, come hot and spiced just right, giving a warming start to the day without fuss. Locals appreciate the green sauce that kicks up the heat and pairs well with eggs and bacon or huevos rancheros with chorizo if you’re in the mood to explore more traditional plates. The ritmo of the restaurant tends to pulse with early diners looking for a hearty plate before heading out, though lunch options like caldo de res, green enchiladas, and carne guisada plates fill out the day with honest, filling Tex-Mex flavors.

The atmosphere at Acevedo's skews towards functional and homey. It’s the kind of place where you’re likely to find familiar faces and a waitress juggling multiple tables, which speaks to a cozy, if occasionally bustling, environment. Service is earnest but can show signs of being stretched thin during busy times, so patience goes a long way here. Expect a break from hustle culture — it’s more about simple, hearty food and a place where the kitchen puts out familiar comfort rather than experimental dishes.

For visitors and locals alike, Acevedo's fits best into those moments when you want a genuine dose of West Texas Mexican cooking without the polish of a trendy spot. Whether you’re fueling up early for a day of driving or settling in for a straightforward lunch, it’s worth stopping by if you appreciate traditional flavors served with a side of no-nonsense atmosphere. The less complicated the visit, the more Acevedo’s feels like a piece of local life.

OMJesus. Just a chance stop for breakfast on our way leaving West Texas. Got several breakfast burritos, including carne guisada. I’m mad at myself for only ordering one and even more mad at my husband for not turning the car around so I could go back for a dozen more. Stop at this place. You’re welcome.

We had the chicken enchiladas and the last chile relleno. The rice and refried beans were pretty good, but my husband, who loves the relleno, was not impressed. The sole waitress was working 6 tables and bussing them, too, but it was July 4th and I think they were short-handed. I had to remind her about my drink and she never checked on us. I want to try breakfast there, tho, since they were recommended for that by the locals!

Acevedo’s is home grown Tex-Mex…handmade flour tortillas like abuleta used to make. Breakfast burritos were awesome and the green sauce brought the heat. We loved it! We’ll be back!

OMG the all you can eat enchilada buffet is the bomb. If you don't walk out of this place satisfied then you aren't a lover of food.
